Tragic - saw this on the news. Obviously we can't discuss this particular
case but I have a general question...
Are pre-adolescents more prone to developing the malignant hyperpyrexia type
picture than teenagers? If so - why? Is it dose related or a metabolic
predisposition?
There is a practical reason behind my question: in 12 days time there is a
"Global Gathering" known as "God's Kitchen" within the catchment area of my
hospital. Sadly I am afraid it doesn't seem to have anything to do with God.
It seems to be an organised rave with shed music and stuff like that. I
don't know much about the event, but I heard that last year my colleague
spent the night in the department resuscitating children with drug
overdoses. I'm on duty this year and my heart sank when I learned that
Stratford-upon-Avon District Council had agreed to allow it to go ahead
again AND increase the licenced number of tickets from 35000 to 50000.
Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that this is Blighty I'd be suspicious
that suitcases of used fivers had been left behind at council licence
application hearings.
