* for the Definition studies: by June 28, 2002
* for the General future work: by August 15, 2002.
General future activities. The Life Cycle Initiative looks for volunteers
who can contribute to the general future activities. The following options
are given to participate:
* Member of the supporting group
The initiative will have one supporting group. Members of this group
will regularly receive information about the ongoing work, they can comment
on draft documents and they will be invited for workshops.
* Member of the working groups
The initiative consists of three programmes: the LCM, the LCI and
the LCIA programme. Each of these three programmes will have a working group
of about 30 persons. The main task of these formally installed working
groups is to give advice on the draft documents before these are handed over
to the highest authority of the initiative, the International Life Cycle
Panel. The working groups will consist of a limited number of experts with a
stakeholder and geographical balance.
Definition studies. The first activities of the initiative consist of the
implementation of a definition study or each of the three programmes. These
should be finished until the end of 2002. There are two ways to be involved
in the work of these first activities of the initiative:
* Member of the draft author teams
The draft author teams will be responsible for the content of the
definitions studies. They will consist of 5-8 persons. Due to the restricted
budget of the initiative, only certain expenses can be reimbursed. Estimated
time effort: 1-2 weeks.
* Member of the review teams
Each definition study will have a review team, consisting of 3-5
persons. These teams will be responsible for checking the results of the
definition studies prepared by the draft author teams. Their comments have
to be explicitly considered by the authors. Only a limited part of the
expenses can be reimbursed. Estimated time effort: 3-5 days.
The membership of the draft author teams and peer review teams will
primarily be based on expertise in the three fields of the initiative, but
also for these groups regional and stakeholder balance will be of
importance.
