Dear WG Members.
I implemented a fix this morning to the Registry
(http://wip.dublincore.org:8080/dcregistry/index.html) that addresses the
problem of searching for terms that contain non-ASCII characters. I believe
this function works now for all of the single-byte languages, but would
appreciate if this could be tested by individuals that have non-US
keyboards. To test this please do the following:
- select your 'user interface language' and 'return statements written in'
from the preferences menu
- in the 'search for' entry field of the search screen enter a word that
contains a special character (accent, tilde, umlaut, etc.).
- verify that the search term is rendered correctly and that the search
results are correct
For example: using the Spanish interface, and returning statements written
in Spanish, search for 'título'. This should produce a resultset that
include the terms subject and title.
I am not sure if this fix will work for the double byte (CJK) languages and
have not yet figured out how to produce those characters with a US keyboard
:) Would someone with native language skills in Chinese, Japanese or Korean
(and with the appropriate keyboard) be kind enough to test this for me?
