Health Care Systems in Eight Countries: Trends and Challenges

Description: This site provides access to the full text of a report published in 2002 by the European Observatory on Health Care Systems, which is based at the London School of Economics (LSE). It compares eight national health care systems in Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden and UK. Issues analysed include: trends in health care expenditure, user charges, state funding and issues relating to privatisation.

National Photo Collection State of Israel
Description: This web site is maintained by the Government Press Office Photography Department of the State of Israel. It provides access to a searchable database of official photographic images taken from 1948 to the present day. They cover all aspects of the political and social history of Israel, including coverage of wars and the Arab-Israeli conflict from Israel's point of view. Each photograph has a caption with information on date and content. The site also contains an educational section with suggested activities. Users should however, note that some information is offered in Hebrew only.

Description: This site provides access to the text of Brief 22 prepared by Kris Brown, Corinna Hauswedell and published by the Bonn International Center for Conversion and INCORE in 2001. It considers the history of the decommissioning of paramilitary arms in Northern Ireland from 1996-2001, its relationship to the peace process and the effectiveness of its implementation. Users should note that the paper is in pdf format and therefore requires access to an Adobe Acrobat Reader for use.
