(Apologies for the inevitable cross posting)
Dear Colleagues
I am writing to let you know about a one-day seminar at the London School of Economics on Tuesday, 18th June on the subject of economic evaluation in the social welfare field, which will coincide with the publication of a report for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, "Making the most of it: economic evaluation in the social welfare field".
The flyer for this publication can be located at http://www.econeval-social-welfare.org/Makingthemostofitflyer3.pdf
The seminar will last from 11.00-4.30, (registration from 10.30 onwards).
The purpose of the seminar is to promote discussion around some of the principle themes running through the report, including:
* challenges involved in the evaluation of complex social welfare interventions;
* the scope for, and limits to, to using methods developed largely by health economists in other areas of social welfare;
* alternative perspectives on evaluation;
* complementary use of qualitative research methods.
Speakers will include: Pauline Allen, National Co-ordinating Centre for NHS Service Delivery and Organisation and Health Services Research Unit, London School of Hygiene, Philip Davies, Director of Policy Evaluation, Cabinet Office, Stephen Jan, Health Policy Unit, London School of Hygiene, Pam Meadows, National Institute Of Economic And Social Research, Tom Sefton, Centre for Analysis for Social Exclusion, London School of Economics, and Jane Waldfogel, Columbia University School of Social Work Faculty.
There is no charge for this event, which is funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. Lunch will be provided, but due to limited space attendance at the workshop is strictly by RSVP only.
Please e-mail me if you wish to reserve a place and/or to receive further details about the programme.
Kind Regards
