Dear physios,
Am just updating our knee and ankle leaflets in the musculoskeletal
outpatient dept. and we were questioning as to whether it was necessary for
patients to hold their lower limb up above their heart in order for
reduction in swelling to be effective. We were debating whether it had to be
above the hear or just above the hip (femoral artery) to be effective and we
wanted the leaflet to be up to date and evidence-based. Anyone got any ideas
and evidence to back up which is best? Please reply asap. This leaflet need
to be handed in at the end of the week (May 24th).
Much appreciated.
