Sorb Perspectives within the enlarging European Union/Ecological Issues in
Lusatia
A panel of Sorb representatives and British experts will discuss threats
and opportunities for the smallest Slavonic nation and one of Germany's
oldest minorities, the Sorbs. Living in the states of Brandenburg and
Saxony, the Sorb minority shares a wealth of fifteen hundred years in
common history with their German neighbours. The briefing will be attended
by representatives of British-German organisations, such as the British
German Association, the German Embassy, the Anglo German Foundation and the
Goethe Institute.
Speakers: Mr.Jan Nuck, Chairman of Domowina (The national Sorb umbrella
organisation) Dr. Peter Barker, Dept.of German Studies, University of
Reading (expert in modern German politics and Sorb affairs), Prof. Horst
Schumacher, Energiegarten e.V., Berlin Ralph Kappler, halo energy,
think-tank for renewable energy
