People should get there own certificate and certainly
the CA will/should only sign certificates that are personal.
The UI is the bit of grid setup that touches your local existing
network enviroments with all its existing users.
I guess you have a department Unix network so perhaps
get the existing departments accounts onto your UI via NIS
or something depending on what your department uses or get
the UI software onto the existing accounts that you have.
The UI portion of the software is not very intrusive.
I sympathise about the firewall problem. If you have a very fussy
fire wall admin it is going to make life difficult. Though
this should not be to bad for submitting jobs. I expect we can help
in so far as at least narrowing the ports down to those that you
