Quite correct. What we are doing at Our Lady of Walsingham is a little
different. We are the Anglican Use Parish in Houston. Fr. Moore and I have
worked out an order for this Easter season. The ministers enter the Sancturay
via the main aisle, therfore an entrance (Introit) seems most appropriate.
then the Asperges (the water having been blessed already in the Sacristy a la
the older tradeition. And then we start the Mass with the opening V/R. The
music is:
Introit Antiphon: tone VIII (Introit version)
Psalm verse: 1 verse only Anglican single chant by W. Walter
Intorit anitphon repeat
Father intones "I saw water" and the people continue back in tone VIII
It takes 3 verses of Ps 118 to get down the aisle sprinkling - Anglican chant
gain.
"Glory be" to Anglican chant
"I saw water" Antiphon repeat in tone VIII
This seems to work well. I know it doesn't follow the old Rite, but each
components function is valid. And we have no reason to stick to either the
"Tridentine" or the I.C.E.L. versions!
BTW, during the Liturgy of the Word, we always use the triple Alleuya for the
Gradual Antiphon and the Easter Vigil single Alleluya for the Alleluya verse.
