I find c. spines interesting too. As a G.P. I get a lot of patients coming
to see me several days after an accident to register their neck pain for an
insurance claim. When I start asking details about the mechanism of injury
their replies start to weed the sheep from the goats. One guy came to see
me because he had been called a malingerer by other doctors but his side
impact from the left, which caused 40+cm intrusion fitted the brachial
plexus symptoms he had on that side.
Diagonal seat-belts compound the problem as there is a rotational force if
the impact is off the midline of the car. I wish there was more available
on specifics of the kinematics of trauma. Perhaps theres a role for this
e-group in time to come..
