Paul Heyse's "Die Pfälzer in Irland"
the German Department of NUI Galway is presenting a multi-media show
(drama, film, live music and dance) based on Paul Heyse's play "Die
Pfälzer in Irland" written in 1854 about the Limerick Palatines. It
has a Romeo-and-Juliet plot of a love affair between Anna, a
Protestant Palatine's daughter, and James Hennessy, the leader of the
native Catholic White Boys, and is set beneath Carrick O'Cunnell, a
ruined castle south of Limerick. There will be comprehensive
programme notes for non-German speakers.
Directed by Eoin Bourke. Musical Director michael Shields.
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, March 12-14 at 8 p.m. in the Bank of
Ireland Theatre.
