medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
It's post-medieval - but does anyone have a reference for Calvin's
disapproval of the use of pet names in baptism (such as Watkin for Walter,
Jenkin for John (I think), Willikin, Jannequin etc)? I have asked Dave
Postles and followed up the references he gave me, and trawled through
Nomina, but to no avail. The original reference came from Prys Morgan of
Swansea, who can't now track it down either
