dear palle,

i have not been on the list long enough to judge whether the process was
undemocratic or not. however, from the response to your (initial) mail, it
seems that more discussion is appreciated...

on the other hand i know that quite a few people are busy with implementing
government services on the internet and are looking for some guidance
regarding their metadata handling (and guidance is key to dcmi). therefore,
we are looking forward to the quick finalisation of the dc-gov ap. i'm
afraid though that we will really know what it's worth only after we have
started implementing it.

cheers
thom

Dear all at the DC GOV Mail list,

Is there no interest in discussing the questions below??
Just reply to the list with a YES or NO.

Regards

Palle

--------------------------

Dear all at the DC GOV Mail list,

Since last summer there has been an ongoing work for establishing a "DC GOV
Application Profile".

The most crusial objections - as we just have received from Stuart S.- has
been that the results from editorial group is not reflecting what the the
community (DC GOV area) wants. Or in other words - the editorial group has
not been following the DCMI spirit.

The latest draft proposal can be seen at:
http://www.dublincore.org/groups/government/profile-200202.shtml. According
to comments on this draft, there will be corrected regarding namespace
reference and encoding scheme for date and pretext.

TO ALL AT THIS MAIL LIST - PLEASE ANSWER:

1) Is there agreement in the "DC GOV WG" about the draft proposal with the
mentioned corrections???

2) Has the workprocess with the draft proposal been "undemocratic" and is
not reflecting the community needs???

3) Shall we continue the proces???

Regards
