You need to define GRIDMAPDIR=/etc/grid-security/gridmapdir for versions
later than 2.0-beta21. If you are using the edgconfig RPM's, you can
just put it in /etc/globus.conf and the daemon startup scripts will
export it for you, into the daemon's environment.
One consequence of this is that its easier to put the gridmapdir
somewhere other than /etc/grid-security and therefore easier to
NFS-share it between several machines. (The lock files are manipulated
in a way which is atomic even on an NFS filesystem, so there isn't
a problem with running more than one gatekeeper or gsi ftpd machine
with a single NFS-shared gridmapdir.)
Cheers,
Andrew
