Sociological Research Online (http://www.socresonline.org.uk/) is an
electronic journal that publishes high quality applied sociology,
focusing on theoretical, empirical and methodological discussions which
engage with current political, cultural and intellectual topics and
debates. It is now entering its seventh year of publication and has
established its place as a major archival sociological journal.
It is now seeking additional members of its Editorial Board. It wishes
to solicit nominations from the broadest geographical and institutional
spectrum and so it is advertising these positions widely. Please bring
this notice to the attention of possible candidates and those who might
make nominations.
The duties of Editorial Board members include reviewing submissions to
the journal, both in areas of individual expertise and as a general
reader. On average Board members can expect to be asked to review
roughly one paper a month and are expected to do so within two weeks. In
addition, Board members are expected to contribute to the running of the
journal by participating in meetings of the Editorial Board which are
held by telephone conference once or twice a year.
Nominations of sociologists with expertise in any area of the discipline
will be welcome, although those with expertise in the areas of cultural
sociology, contemporary social change, class and inequality, race,
comparative sociology and migration are particularly sought. Candidates
may be based in any geographical location provided that they have
adequate access to the internet. All correspondence is conducted by
email and over the World Wide Web. The journal is published in English
and a good working knowledge of the language is required. Nominations of
individuals at all career stages will be considered, although normally
Board members would be expected to have obtained a doctorate or have had
equivalent experience.
Nominations and a short c.v. of the candidate indicating their areas of
sociological expertise should be sent to Cathy Surgey at
mailto:[log in to unmask] by 28th February 2002.
