takes pleasure in announcing an International Summer School for Younger
Faculty
Globalization and Intercultural Communication
July 8-27 2002, Minsk, Belarus
The school participants will explore the realities of cultural, economic,
and political globalizing processes and brainstorm the most topical
consequences of globalization for the New Independent States, including,
first and foremost, Belarus and Russia. Several school courses will be
taught by world-famous scholars from the United States, including Andreas
Huyssen of Columbia University and Walter Mignolo of Duke University.
This summer school will enroll a wide audience of younger faculty and
researchers from all over the NIS and Central and Eastern Europe working in
the fields of cultural studies, international relations, sociology,
political science, history, and other areas. The school participants are
expected to possess a good command of written and spoken English, as well as
an interest and relevant experience in the field of the school.
Travel (2nd class rail fare) and subsistence (accommodation and meals) will
be covered by the organizers.
