Hi Irene
I guess "giving up" is a loaded term. It's not really about resignation to
"one's lot". Hopefully we all move toward self development and self
improvement in whatever direction we want our lives to take. I certainly had
to do a lot of hard work to get me to the place I am now. I do find myself
asking now when faced with a challenge, "is it worth the anxiety?" If the
answer is a genuine "no" then I am less inclined to push myself these days.
Striving to achieve for that which you want is most certainly worth toiling
for. You will never get to know what you are truly capable of otherwise.
Knowing who you are doing it for and why are important questions to ponder.
I try not to become complacent but no more superman antics. I think i
reached self-actualisation without taking up macrame.

Whilst I agree for the most part with your posting,i.e, with regard to not
grieving for the lost self. I am concerned about the aspect of just
adapting and accepting ones "lot" (situation and circumstances), does it
mean we have given up? This is where I am stuck!!!
