Thanks to everybody who helped me with my questions yesterday regarding
my thesis. Rather than reply to every single one I hope a mailing list
reply will suffice ! Please feel free to contact me still if you have
any more information.
God bless,
Jamie

Subject: Disability movement learning from struggle for race & gender
rights
I am doing postgraduate research on the social exclusion of disabled
people in the UK. Wonder if anybody could help me with a couple of
questions I have?
1. Where can I get definitive statistics on the number of disabled
people in Britain? Is there a web site?
2. As part of my thesis I am looking at other forms of exclusion and how
people have fought to gain real rights & opportunities, such as the
fights against racism & gender discrimination (a case study on the
American black civil rights movement & the British suffragette
movement). My difficulty at the moment is I cannot find many articles or
books comparing the lessons learnt through these movements and what the
struggle for equal rights for disabled people can learn from them. Any
ideas?
Thanks so much.
Jamie
