I call it "Academese" - a language common to all disciplines but with a
specific dialect for each discipline. I really dislike it, and think that it
is an attempt by whoever writes it to sound cleverer than he or she is. I
have had to read whole articles written in such language and have inevitably
found that pages of this stuff could be reduced down to just 3 or 4
paragraphs if written in good English. I avoid reading books written in
"Academese" - life is too short!
