Call for Graduate Student Papers
The Havighurst Center for Russian and Post-Soviet Studies at Miami
University of Ohio invites papers from advanced graduate students on
the
theme of "Reconfiguring The Humanities in the Post-Soviet World."
This conference will be held March 21-24, 2002.
The Havighurst Center has invited outstanding scholars in the
field of Russian literature to participate in the Symposium. Below
is the list of the scholars and the titles of their talks that will
give a better idea as to what the coordinators of the Symposium have
in mind. However, the proposals on any topic in Russian literature
will be considered.
Those selected will be asked to submit a 30-page paper for distribution
to participants and posting on the Center's website by March 10, 2002.
March 21-24 Symposia will include:
Boris Gasparov (Columbia University)
"Mayakovsky and the Formalist Doctrine."
Gavriel Shapiro (Cornell University)
"Nabokov and the World of Art"
Gary Saul Morson (Northwestern University)

Nikolai Grintser (Rossiisky Gumanitarny Universitet)
"Structuralizing Classics: Modern Theories in Contemporary Russian
Classical Philology"
Lev Loseff (Dartmouth College)
"Joseph Brodsky in the Age of Semiotics"
The Center will cover accommodation expenses; limited funding for
travel support will be available. Deadline for paper proposals is Feb.
5, 2001.
Proposals should include a two-page abstract and CV.
