I've downloaded the Draft Codes. I couldn't see
any way someone who was neither an employer
nor a social care worker could respond on-line.
(I am disabled and a carer and a service user
insofar as I can get service from the hospital
social workers... .)
Do we have to write letters etc.? (It is easier
for me to e-mail as I have lost fine motor control
in my right hand and probably my left too.)

Subject: Codes of Conduct for the Social Care Workforce
Hello everyone,
Many of us who are service users have very practical experience of some of
the trials and tribulations of working with social care workers, from social
workers to care assistants. In the UK the government is putting into place
ways of regulating this workforce and has set up new bodies to do this. One
of these is the General Social Care Council.
One of its first developments is to publish Codes of Conduct. On 9th
January a three-month consultation on the draft codes was launched. I feel
that responses from disabled people are very important and am very much
concerned that anyone who has time should firstly know this is happening,
and if possible make a response.
The Draft Codes and information about how you take part can be accessed at
