I'm a Mac user and a Psion 5 user but getting them to talk to each other is
a bit tricky.
Apple's computers, and especially the new OS X, are streets ahead of any PCs
available, and although the psion 5 is getting a bit long in the tooth now
and does not have a colour screen, it's still a great palmtop for medical
stuff, so I think it is worth the hassle (just!).
I've also used palm handhelds, which the Mac has built in support for, but
the Palm is not nearly as useful as the Psion for medical work.
See http://www.coull.net/computers.html for more details.
If you want to use a Psion (or other palmtop other than the palm) you will
need to resort to using Virtual PC (I've sent you the boring details of how
to do this off list - if anyone else is struggling with this, they can email
me off list).
Hope that helps.
