Hello,
I am VERY new to the world of support vector machines and kernel methods.
I am a computer programmer who is looking to apply some of these techniques
to software that I am working on. From what I have read the appropriate
application of an SVM would provide optimum results for me.
I can easily utilize LIBSVM as a "black box" and get reasonable results. I
would really like to understand more about how the basics of an SVM or
kernel machine work.
I have attempted to read a few books on the subject, but unfortunately do
not have the math background to understand all of the necessary material.
I don't need to fully understand all of the advanced mathematics, but would
like a basic understanding of the concepts and processes.
Can someone recommend where I might learn more about these systems.?
I would ideally like to hire a tutor in New York city if someone could
recommend one.
Thank You,
-Noah Silverman
