Dear List
Details of the attempt at driving the Channel Tunnel in 1882 including drawings of "...the air boring machine of Colonels Beaumont and English..." can be found in Proc. of NEIMME Vol XXXll of that year.
The machine left half-buried below the cliffs in the vicinity of Dover I seem to remember was not this machine but a later device, perhaps 1917 (?), from some sort of demonstration. I don't think it was too successful!!
Simon.
