The British Library is preparing to extend its cataloguing procedures the
better to support the creation of records of textual material in non-print
and/or electronic formats. At the same time, other changes will be made with
reference to records of serials. Two UKMARC fields not previously used by
the Library (tags 258 and 856) will be adopted and the use of certain
existing fields will be developed.
The changes will take effect from October 2002.
