Two-Year Pilot for Post-Transmission Online Delivery
of Television and Radio in 100 UK HE/FEIs
********************************************************
The British Universities Film & Video Council (BUFVC) and the Educational
Recording Agency (ERA) are in negotiations to permit the BUFVC to run a
collaborative two-year pilot service providing post-transmission online
access to, and usage of, television and radio broadcasts otherwise recorded
under the ERA Licensing Scheme.
The purpose of the pilot is to:
- trial controlled access via established academic networks to broadcast
material post-transmission;
- provide data to rights-holders via delegated reporting and user feedback;
- and assess types and levels of demand and usage within educational
establishments.
The pilot will be carried out with the collaboration of a sample group of
fifty institutions of Further Education in the UK and fifty institutions of
Higher Education in the UK. Those institutions wishing to participate in the
pilot will be required to satisfy a number of technical and reporting
