I agree entirely with those skeptical about the inclusion of the word
(rather than the concept it attempts to define) 'information'. It would
be interesting to hear a definition of what 'information history'
actually means or whether it has just made-up as a reaction to the
merger. I think to most outsiders it would draw a complete blank.
I think what is meant is something more specific such as the
history of information provision, storage, distribution, etc. but that
would be too cumbersome a title. Is there a better word than
information that covers the subject more precisely? Or is the
already much overlooked subject of Library History to slip further
into the margins?
