JOB OPPORTUNITY: INFORMATION MANAGEMENT CO-ORDINATOR
We currently have a vacancy in the role of IM Co-ordinator within the
Waterway Conservation and Regeneration department, based in Hillmorton,
RUGBY
The department provides expertise in heritage, environment, architecture,
planning and design to British Waterways in its task of managing the 2000-
mile network of canals and river navigations.
The position will be permanent and the salary will be agreed according to
qualifications and experience, but will be within the range of £16-20k

The Role
Provide expertise in the area of Information Management for the department
and BW as a whole.
Development, creation and maintenance of computerised record systems using
SQL Server, when required inputting, abstracting and presenting information
in an appropriate format.
Development of Intranet & Internet based Interfaces for display &
interaction with the data.
Assist in the development of online mapping applications using ArcIMS and
creating links to SQL Server.
Responsible for controlling and maintaining all computer systems in the
department, including Server administration.
Manage well-defined projects to meet set objectives.
Assist in the development of corporate policies and initiatives in
Information Management.
Provide technical expertise in the area of IT to a busy department.
The Candidate
MSc in a relevant subject or equivalent work experience
Good Knowledge of GIS (ESRI product experience would be an advantage)
Programming ability, particularly useful would be Visual Basic, Java and
experience with SQL Server
Good Knowledge of Intranet and Internet technologies
High level of IT knowledge/ability, should include all Microsoft Office
applications, including Microsoft Access.
Strong communication, presentation and team working skills, as well as an
ability to work unsupervised.
Environmental background is an advantage – the ability to demonstrate an
understanding of the issues and policies involved in managing inland
waterways
Must be currently resident and have the right to work in the UK.
