Dear all,
Obviously aureole is a beautiful latin-derived word whose meaning is
obvious for any plain spanish speaker or for a geology student. It is
pretty much as Francois Guillot explained, and has practically the same
meaning in any Romance language It just means rim or, following a
dictionary, "line left around a stain".
Sorry, but Ballachulish has nothing to do with Romance languages,
although it sound pretty romantic as well...
