Artefacts Librarian
for Islington Education Library Service
(maternity leave for 1 year from January 2003)
Salary £23,313-24,669 (pro rata) 3 days per week
This is an interesting and varied role which involves managing a
successful object handling collection. You will work as part of a team
delivering the Education Library Service to schools and subscribers in
Islington and neighbouring boroughs. You will have overall
responsibility for the Artefacts section which is the largest loan
collection of its kind in London. This is a temporary position for one
year to cover maternity leave and is part of a job share.
The person we are looking for could come from a variety of backgrounds in
either museum education, teaching or librarianship. However the key
quality that we are looking for is an understanding of the potential of
artefacts to enrich learning and motivate children and young people. The
job will require you to be flexible,able to fit into a small team, work
under pressure and above all to be enthusiastic and commited to promoting
the service.
