What is the point of collecting? How should museums and galleries decide
what not to keep? Are we a nation obsessed by objects and artworks,
dwelling in the past? Is what we keep and display in fact essential to our
future? Or do our collections only matter if people understand and enjoy
them?
Join leading cultural commentators Tom Bentley, Charles Landry and Alice
Rawsthorne in this Museums and Galleries Month 2002 debate, with an audience
of museum and gallery supporters and professionals. Audience participation
is welcome; you are also invited to email questions (up to 25 words) in
advance to [log in to unmask] by 6th May.
Admission is free; please reserve places by emailing [log in to unmask],
or use the booking form below. Following the debate there will be drinks
