Position Title: INEE NETWORK COORINATOR

Job Description:
The individual in this position will be a CARE employee seconded by UNESCO
in Paris for a period of at least two years. The individual will report to
the Steering Group of the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies
(INEE). The members of the Steering Group include, but may not be limited
to, representatives from UNHCR, UNICEF, UNESCO, CARE, NRC and SCF. The
position will provide both technical and managerial support to the Steering
Committee. The individual filling this position will be responsible for
complex managerial, coordination and communication functions.
The Network Coordinator will:
- Carry out a variety of activities to improve communication, understanding
and cooperation between UN agencies, NGOs, and donors regarding the
institutional interests and capacities of organizations working in education
in emergencies.
- Represent INEE in various forums.
- Recruit INEE members and keep a current database with member information
- Moderate the INEE list-serve, write and compile list-serve messages.
- Supervise the development of the INEE web-site.
- Identify publications, research and best practices in emergency education
for dissemination via INEE's list-serve and web page.
- Support activities leading to the development of conceptual guidelines for
education in emergencies
- Serve as an advisor to the Steering Group, preparing background
documentation for group discussion and decision-making.
- Arrange various meetings, assemble meeting agendas, take minutes, write
work plans, proposals and reports for various audiences
- Coordinate communications between INEE and "focal points" for task teams,
advisory and working groups with which INEE colloborates. For example the UN
Girls' Education Initiative and the IASC on Humanitarian Response.
Required Qualifications:
- Background in education in emergencies and/or developing countries.
- Skills in networking, communications, information sharing and
collaboration.
- Strong analytical and writing skills, especially in English.
- Ability to communicate in French would be very helpful.
- Excellent interpersonal and representational skills.
- Ability to work independently, solve complex problems and facilitate
complex communication between diverse actors.
Desired Qualifications
- High level of knowledge and familiarity with the existing research in
education in emergencies.
- Written and verbal competency in French.
Required Education:
- Master's Degree or equivalent in Education, or other Social Science
discipline.
