A two-day conference, organised by the AIRE Centre (Advice on Individual
Rights in Europe) will be held on Friday March 15 and Sat Mar 16 2002, on:
'EU Immigration and Asylum Law'.
The conference will focus on the specific measures adopted by or under
consideration by the EU since the Treaty of Amsterdam entered into force,
critically examining the impact of adopted or proposed legislation on
national immigration and asylum law and practice, the role of the EC
political and judicial institutions in the development of the law, the human
rights impact of the measures and the impact on applicant countries. The
speakers are well-known specialists in immigration and asylum law from NGOs,
the UNHCR, immigration law practice and the academic world.
