Dear Colleagues,
Each year the newspaper European Voice awards individuals who have made a
significant contribution to Europe and to the world.
This year Emma Nicholson MEP (Member of the European Parliament) has been
nominated for her contribution in the field of human rights and
international development. If Emma were to win this award, it would be a
victory for human rights campaigners everywhere.
As a MEP she has passionately championed the rights of refugees, children
living in poverty, and those persecuted for their beliefs, sexuality or
ethnicity. She has worked extensively to make others aware of the suffering
and fear faced by refugees from war torn nations, and the misery of those
living in poverty in Europe and around the world. In particular she has
spent much time and effort campaigning on behalf of Iraqi and Afghan
refugees and Romanian orphans. If you would like to learn more about Emma's
work and why she has been nominated please visit
http://www.emmanicholson.com .
Everyone is eligible to vote, regardless of location or age - all you need
is an internet connection and an email address. To vote for Emma, please
visit the EV50 website: http://www.ev50.com/poll. Voting closes on 15
November 2002. At the web site there are several different categories, all
with various nominees. You must vote for an individual in each category and
then remember to "activate your vote" by returning an email which you will
receive after you have voted.
Please forward this email as widely as possible so that others might ensure
that the issues championed by Emma should take their rightful place at the
top of the European agenda.
Kind regards,
Douglas Benedict
