wish the Anthony Mann deal came from something literary--am going to look,
altho of course it would be ultra-pulpy--cause I'd love to hear someone's
thoughts on this one.
but see, I think that film does speak to your problem, if you imagine Strange
Impersonation as a literary text--in other words, and I hate to be a creep
about this, but does the "literary" prior text necessarily need to exist in
reality to make your point? no--but of course you are writing on adaptation,
so of course--
but anyway, thanks for reminding me of Strange Impersonation. Has anyone
fiddled around with this film? surely w/all the Mann stuff out there . . .?

ps also thought of the wonderful experiment Sophie Calle did w/Double
Game--which is alas not a film, but is a performance parody described in (and
maybe created just for) a "literary" text, of a literary text by Paul Auster.
