Hi,
I'm trying to model a 3-D problem involving contact surfaces with ANSYS
using SOLID45 and CONTAC49 elements, but having no success with obtaining
an appropriate result. The extremely rough sketch below shows a 2-D
representation of the problem (1, 2 & 3 indicate the 3 seperate
areas/volumes of the model), with the purpose being to model the stresses
occuring at the interface between the keyways and the key when they are
forced in to contact.
_________
| ___ | 1 = Keyway (upper)
| 1| | | 2 = Key
| | | | 3 = Keyway (lower)
|__| |__|
__| 2 |__ Displacement of 1 mm applied to
| | | | top surface of area 1 in -y direction.
| | | |
| 3|___| |
|_________|
The trouble is that after each solve I'm getting penetration of the
components into each other (mainly the key and upper keyway). I've tried a
variety of different load setups and constraints but can't seem to resolve
the problem, so am assuming that I haven't defined the contact surfaces
correctly. If anyone can offer any assistance with this I would be very
grateful.
Thanks in advance,
Matt.
Note: I can email any of the required files (.log or .dbb) if they would
help in solving this.
