Dear colleagues,
does anyone have any idea of how to protect
concrete from deteriration due to thermal effects? The
problem is not so simple as it sounds: insulation
cannot be assumed to be available in case of a thermal
accident, and there is no access to the interior of
the structure (a power nuclear reactor) in case of
accident. The temperature range would be from 700-900
deg Celsius, rising from ambient in abt 1/2 to 2 hrs
and falling to ambient over about 3 days. What sort of
materials are used in AGRs? I don't have a steel
lining here, so how can I insulate the concrete
reliably?
Thanks for any help
