***XXIXth INTERNATIONAL BYRON CONFERENCE***
This is an advance call for Postgraduate papers, from the Byron Society
Liaison Committee for the 29th Annual International Byron Society
Conference to be held at the University of Liverpool from the 19th of
August to the 26th August 2003.
The title of the Conference will be "Byron and the Good Life" with a
subsidiary theme of "Byron and the Sea". Abstracts of 300 words are invited
on any aspect of the Conference theme.
The conference this year should be a large-scale affair. A number of
well-known Byron scholars have already declared that they are coming. But
the Academic Committee particularly welcomes the participation of
Postgraduates in the Conference and has established the Byron Society
Liaison Committee to attend to Postgraduate involvement. The Liaison
Committee, in consultation with the Academic Committee, will be responsible
for proposing and accepting all Postgraduate speakers and non-speaking
participants at the Conference.
As with all Byron conferences, there will be a number of social and
cultural events and trips built into the conference. It should be fun. We
plan this year, through the Liaison Committee, to bring postgraduates into
the shaping of some of these events.
Postgraduates wishing to attend next summer's Conference and those who
would like more information should contact Jonathon Shears via e-mail at
