International Conference ìWomen in Civil Society: Philosophy. Politics.
Historyî. The Conference will be held 6-9 June, 2002 at the Faculty of
Philosophy, Saint Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg, Russia.
We will focus on the following issues:
- formation of the civil society in Russia and womenís role in this process;
- the gender component in the processes of civil society formation;
- present-day concepts of the civil society;
- human rights as institute of the civil society;
- role of culture in civil society formation;
- mass communications in civil society;
- womenís participation in mass media;
- women in politics, organs of power, public and non-governmental
organizations: issues and perspectives;
- women and conflicts.

Cultural program ìGreat Russian Women in St. Petersburgî. It includes
visiting historical places, as well as palaces of St. Petersburg, Peterhof
or Tsarskoe Selo (Pushkin), St. Petersburg State University, visiting one of
St. Petersburg theaters.
The Conference will be in Russian, German and English.
Organizing Committee does not pay transportation and accommodation for
participants. We can support you in finding hotel accommodation.
The conference fee is $100.

Deadline for theme submission is March 1, 2002. To do a letter of invitation
for applying a visa to Russia we need personal information: Name, Date of
Birth, Title, Organization and its address, Telephone, Fax, Passport number,
Date of expiry of passport. Also please send us two first pages of passport
by fax.
Abstracts should be no longer than 200-300 words, and should be sent by
e-mail by March 20, 2002.
