next event covering Open Source software. Bookings for this

University of Birmingham
Open Source software can now offer a realistic alternative
to
proprietary software on the desktop for a wide range of
applications. The event will be looking at some of the
possible
options, including case studies. Confirmed topics include
Sun's StarOffice/OpenOffice, XML in the Open Source
environment,
a case study of a Zope-based project and finally the
Bodington
Open Source Project, which is being used by the University
of
Leeds to implement its Virtual Learning environment.
The event is being held at the University of Birmingham
Conference
Park, which is a short 15 minute walk from the University
Station in
Birmingham. The Conference Park has Bed and Breakfast
facilities
available for those who wish to stay overnight. It is
recommended
that anyone requiring B & B book these facilities ASAP.
