The complEX sYSTEms Network of exCEllence, EXYSTENCE, has been funded by
the Future Emerging Technologies unit of the European Commission in
order to develop collaboration among European researchers and those in
business and industry interested in Complex Systems, from fundamental
concepts to applications.
You are invited to join the Network, either as a user of the website,
http://www.complexityscience.org/, or as a full member.
Registration on the web site ensures that you will be on the Network
mailing list for announcements of Framework 6 initiatives and calls for
The network's Launch event will take place in Torino, Italy, from
November 12 to 13 with the aims of presenting the 6th Framework
Programme lines of action in complex systems and providing an
opportunity for discussing and preparing for the formation of consortia
for future calls for proposals. The provisional programme is available
on the web site, http://www.complexityscience.org/.
You are also invited to submit news items and comments on the web site.
Later in the year, a hardcopy Newsletter will be published and
The Network sponsors and organises Thematic Institutes and Topical
Workshops. The objective of Thematic Institutes is to help scientists of
diverse backgrounds, e.g. physicists and economists, to engage in active
collaboration for periods of one to three months. Topical Workshops
are shorter meetings that cover transdisciplinary aspects of Complex
Systems in order to develop commonality of concepts and methods
applicable to different fields. More details, and how to apply to
attend these meetings may be found on the web site,
Once you have registered on the site, you may also apply to become a
full member of the Network, using the application form on the site.
