Dear colleagues,
In a draft paper entitled "Modeling Social Systems as Anticipatory Systems"
I have now tried to (1) generate an observer in the network, (2) generate
blind spots for different observers, and (3) generate a next-order level on
the basis of the observers observing each other's observations.
The simulation results, in my opinion, confirm what one expects for social
systems on theoretical grounds (Luhmann). Note that I don't search in the
search space for a specific solution, but I just assume comfortable values
to show the effects that I expect to be possible.
The simulations can be run directly from the paper at
http://www.leydesdorff.net/anticipation/index.htm . It works best with IE.
The draft is very preliminary and I am of course eager for receiving
suggestions for improvements.
With kind regards,
Loet
