What then, I wonder, would be the intended/advised/instructed purpose of
the 'first list' - primarily 'announcements'? Furthermore, whilst there
would be some topics/messages which would naturally go straight into the
second list you propose, a lot of 'in depth discussions, involving either
large number or more lengthy e-mails' actually evolve out of 'small and
innocent' discussions; would you propose that such discussions starting on
'list 1' would at some point be 'seen off' to 'list 2', with a consequent
loss of continuity?
I know we've been over all this ground before, but I'm still amazed that a
list with as relatively little activity as this one (one of the 'quietest'
to which I am subscribed) should even be contemplating the need for
'splitting itself'. However, having said that, I suppose you could split
it into ten bits if you like (to please a very small minority), and it
would make no difference to the majority of us once we had gone through the
initial hassle of subscribing to all ten!
Kind Regards,
John
