Gabriel, Gabriel, Gabriel & Gabriel. Communities are formed by and of
people who undertake those basic acts of reading & responding which I
outlined (of course there are others & other ways of describing
them!). But you seem to want to skip that step, to assume that all that is
but the "this and that" - something to be finessed rather than analyzed or
acknowledged. You grant more substance to existing "networks" rather than
to the actual literary activity to which they are supposedly devoted.
I'm not standing "outside" anything or claim any special status - that's
YOUR spin on my comments! Maybe it's scary to think that responding to
poetry is a matter of always beginning over again, that it's not a set of
networks or institutions but a kind of perennial activity - but oddly
enough, one has to begin there in order to accomplish any substantial
creative or critical writing.
