Nice evening, tonigh, at the Wolfson's college: admission free, Seamus
Heaney very talkative, smiling, down to earth, as it is in his manners,
talking about the creative process that set his language in motion after a
model such as Yeats (but all this was already known to the audience.)
He spoke about Maritain's three stage concept of poetic epiphany: 1.
Creation or poetic sense+ 2. Action or theme stage + 3. Movement or
composition.
Did not impress me particularly, but for his well-known mundane
friendliness.
(understating the self-understated is an understatement which understates
the understated).
