PhD in Simulation and Artificial Intelligence
Applications are invited for a 3 year EPSRC funded research studentship
(to commence autumn 2002) in the field of discrete event simulation and
artificial intelligence. The project, to be supervised by Dr Stewart
Robinson, involves the use of these technologies in cooperation to help
understand human decision-making processes in a manufacturing plant.
The work requires close collaboration with a major automotive
manufacturer.
The successful candidate should have a good first degree (2i or above),
and preferably an MSc, in a related area. Applications are particularly
encouraged from candidates with an educational and/or employment
background in Operational Research, Operations Management or
Manufacturing/Production Engineering.
The studentship, open to UK and other EU nationals, includes full fees
for PhD registration, a maintenance grant (£7,500 pa) for a period of 3
years, and research expenses. Teaching opportunities may be available
after the first year.
