From Anglian Water
Dear All
Another conundrum for you! (I like to share the good ones!!)
A selected number of vehicles within our business have been fitted with
GPS tracking devices. The reason behind the selected few was to monitor
there effectiveness (effectiveness of what exactly, I am unsure, but
would like to think it was the safety of our operatives...the jury
appears to be still out on that one!)
Those employees who are subjected to having these in their vehicles are
expressing concerns as to the health implications of such devices and
where they are positioned - under the drivers seat.
My understanding is that these tracking devices operate on radio waves,
not microwaves as mobile phones do. Am I right?
Has anyone on the list experienced a similar situation? I believe some
Ambulance Services use this method to track vehicles on route. Does
anyone work for an ambulance service who has experience of GPS? Can
anyone offer unbiased technical information?
Thank you in anticipation.
Best wishes
Mary
