Dear List,
Due to email problems in 2 countries, this month we're April fools,
and won't be formally inviting extra guests. Instead, we'll gently
segue (using an appropriate music term) into the theme of
"Ambient": If digital sound can be presented in an 'ambient' manner
(in the environment rather than a 'sit down in an audience and
listen') then can visual new media be presented in a similar manner?
Is it a solution that offers more interaction between the audience
members? Would it reach people who are doing some thing else, like
radio does? Is it an antidote to the over hyped, over loud, over
edited, over stimulating 'new tech' style? Does it pander to those
with short attention spans?
So, what do our 300 subscribed members think? This month, it's up to
you. Next month, normal service will be resumed.
yours,
Beryl
P.S. Further to Andreas Broeckmann's post: Please only post
announcements of events or jobs to this List if they are directly
relevant to New Media CURATING, eg seminars etc where curating is
under discussion. Or events directly relating to the theme of the
month.
Any member of the list is welcome to introduce an informal thread for
discussion at any time, and we also encourage members to approach
myself or Sarah Cook if they would like to propose a formal 'Theme
of the Month", with invited guests.
