The California Institute of Technology Postdoctoral Scholars Program at the
Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) invites applicants to apply for a
postdoctoral research position at JPL in the Atmospheric Chemistry Element.
The research will comprise experimental investigations of gas-phase kinetics
and product formation from reactions of atomic and radical species.
Experimental techniques will include the use of fast-flow reactors
interfaced with resonance fluorescence and infrared laser detection systems.
Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in physical chemistry, chemical
physics or atmospheric chemistry with a strong background in experimental
research in one or more of the following areas: chemical kinetics,
photochemistry, laser spectroscopy. Experience with optical alignment and
vacuum techniques is also desirable.
Appointment is contingent upon evidence of completion of a Ph.D. Annual
starting salary for a recent Ph.D. is approximately $45,000 and can vary
somewhat according to the applicant's qualifications. Postdoctoral Scholars
positions are awarded initially for a 1 year period. Appointments may be
renewed in 1 year increments for a maximum of 2 additional years.
