POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN THEORETICAL PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY
A postdoctoral position is available in my group, starting immediately.
Current projects include the modeling of Eley-Rideal reactions,
in which gas phase atoms react with surface-adsorbed species.
Reactions of H atoms with H and Cl adsorbed onto graphite and
various metal surfaces have been examined (see JCP 116, 7158 (2002);
116, 2599 (2002); 115, 9018 (2001); and 114, 474 (2001). Studies
of the resurfacing of bulk H in metals to form hot atoms, and the
subsequent reactions of these atoms, are in progress. Studies of the
recombinative desorption of H atoms and the dissociation of CH4 and
N2 on metals are planned. Our methods include quantum scattering,
classical dynamics, electronic structure calculation via DFT, and
reduced density matrix formulations for the inclusion of dissipation.
